Why did we start Future Directors?
Who is behind it?

Future Directors Institute is committed to accelerating diversity and inclusion to improve social impact, economic resilience and environmental sustainability. We work with individuals, boards and communities to help ensure the best possible outcomes.

As such, our mission is to empower, develop and support an international community of next generation directors, boards and organisations steering meaningful change inside and outside the boardroom.Paul Smith & Warwick Peel (co-founders of Future Directors Institute)

How are we doing this?

  • We are expanding the diversity (and inclusion) debate, helping to shift mindsets and ultimately Shape the Future via the boardroom.

  • We empower the next generation of leaders by delivering unique and practical learning experiences and extraordinary outcomes.

  • We continue to grow an internationally connected community of Future Directors, expanding their impact whilst providing ongoing support, development and connection.

  • We LOVE this quote from Einstein....."Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results".

Melissa Hartmann, Chair of the Future Directors Alumni Advisory Board

“The Alumni Advisory Board or AAB for short are excited to work with the Future Directors Institute to build on the great work they have done to create our FDI Alumni community.

Our purpose is to – foster an inclusive and supportive community approach to accelerating the Alumni leadership journey so they may influence the future and drive practical, positive change through the boardroom and beyond“.

We know our Alumni are all at different points in their lives, and have different contributions they want to make both now, and into the future. Our world is seeking a new type of leadership, one which is purposeful, inclusive and recognises value beyond just profit. I’m looking forward to working with the FDI community to deepen our understanding of how we can support them so that they can shape and lead this change and in doing so create the organisations and boardrooms of the future.”
